WHO IS EVE COCKS ?
Eve Cocks is an art historian based in Malta. With a background in both modern and contemporary art, her academic journey spans from the University of Malta, where she earned her BA (HONS) in Art History, to the University of Glasgow, where she completed a Master of Letters in Art, Politics, Transgression and 20th C. Avant-Gardes. Under the mentorship of Dada scholar Professor David Hopkins, her postgraduate research explored the post-WWII collages of British pop-artist Eduardo Paolozzi, leading her to work with the collections of Scotland’s prominent art institutions, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the Hunterian Art Gallery.
Throughout her career, Eve has worked within museums and galleries, contributing to exhibitions, research and curatorial projects while collaborating with acclaimed artists, curators and academics. She has designed and taught comprehensive courses on modern and contemporary art movements, with particular focus on Dada, interwar artistic developments, and the political dimensions of avant-garde practices. In 2017, she pioneered Malta’s first blog dedicated to local contemporary art, evecocks.com, creating a much-needed platform for artists and art enthusiasts alike.
Beyond her work in art history, Eve has been expanding her practice as a performance artist, weaving together visual art, dance and storytelling. Since 2022, she has participated in exhibitions, community-driven projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations. She has performed at Dance Festival Malta, taken the stage at the Manuel Theatre, and in 2024, was selected as an artist-in-residence for ŻfinMalta’s AIR2024 program, creating a dynamic intersection between her theoretical knowledge and artistic expression.
